Welcome to
Whispering Acres!

As our collection of domestic animals and horses grew, we realized how much our own children loved growing up and interacting with the them. Now, that all of our children are adults, we as a family were prompted to share our animals and horses with those who might not get a chance to live the "farm life".

We love bringing smiles to the faces of participants young and old. The animals and horses we share are a part of our 'family' and are cared for daily with kindness and respect. We hope you can come visit the farm and enjoy our 'family' as much as we do.

Welcome to Whispering Acres! We are so happy you’re here!

Thank you to our Wildlife Champions!!

High Hopes Equine Assisted Learning

Whispering Acres High Hopes Equine Assisted Learning Center (EAL) opened in April 2020. We work with children and adults across the Southeastern Nebraska and Northern Kansas areas that face a variety of challenges in their lives, ranging from PTSD, Autism, ADHD, Schizophrenia, Anxiety, Depression, and many more mental health challenges that affect the quality of life for these individuals on a daily basis. We utilize the EAL methods brought to us by Greg Kersten, who is the founder of Equine Assisted Psychotherapy, EGALA, O.K. Corral Series. We have a certified staff of two EAL Horse Specialists as well as one instructor and offer an out of the box approach to the challenges our clients face and teach alternative methods of coping and overcoming their difficulties by utilizing the power of a horse to help unlock self-sustainable empowerment for each individual.

Whispering Acres Zoo

The Whispering Acres Zoo opened in 2015 and started with a handful of farm animals that we shared with the surrounding communities. We have had a United States Department of Agricultural (USDA) Class C Exhibitor license under the Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APIS) and the Animal Welfare Act since 2015. This license requires annual veterinary site visits as well as annual USDA site inspections. To date, we have over 100 animals, 35 different species under our care.

Whispering Acres Treasures

The Whispering Acres Holiday Treasures Shop has a charming mix of old and new! The shop is chock full of antiques, primitives, re-purposed decor, floral and so much more! We love all things old, country, prim and floral. You will be able to find the favorite thing that takes up space in your heart and showcase it in your own home! We also have some Whispering Acres and High Hopes merchandise. All of the proceeds go to help care for the Zoo animals and High Hopes horses. We are open to the public 4 times each year: Bunny Trail Open House (spring), 4th of July Sale (July), Fall Open House (October), & Christmas Open House (November), as well as any time the zoo is open to the public. You can also make an appointment to stop by the shop if you’re in the area.

“I have seen many changes in her ability to focus on and complete homework, as well as many positive changes in her personal self-confidence and self-esteem. The experience is a great way to relieve stress.”
